The first level provides the participant with the knowledge and ability to perform the duties of a trade safety coordinator/Employer Safety Coordinator. 
Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the laws that govern the workplace;

  • Explain the safety duties and responsibilities of a various personnel on a multi-employer worksite;

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the components of a site safety plan;

  • Understand the authority of WorkSafeBC and other governing bodies that may play a role on a multi-employer site;

  • Explain the defense of Due Diligence;

  • Describe the components of a Health and Safety Program;

  • Explain the requirements of worker training and participations;

  • Describe how to conduct worksite inspections;

  • Explain the purpose and process of Accident Investigations and injury reporting.

This is the second level of becoming a Construction Safety Officer.

The course enables the graduate to understand how to successfully implement a safety management system for the prime contractor on a multi-employer  constructions site.  The graduate will have the knowledge and skills needed to meet the expectations an safety responsibilities  of the prime contractor to coordinate work while managing a safe workplace for all sub-trades, visitors and public.
